The most important feature of the HERO 642® is the material it is made of, Nickel-Titanium. Endodontic Nickel-Titanium was developed from "Nitinol" wire used in orthodontics. First researched in 1988, it has been used in endodontics in the USA since 1992. |
The HERO 642® is a new MICRO-MEGA instrument made up of Nickel-Titanium alloy. It is used in an endo contra-angle in a rotary motion to guarantee the correct speed of 300-600 rpm.

Nickel-Titanium (NiTi) is : |
- A "super-elastic", very flexible alloy. |
- With memory: it returns to its original shape after bending or deformation. |
- Very resistant to fatigue. |
- Biocompatible and no corrosive. |
All these qualities make it an ideal alloy for endodontics, because it is unlikely to ledge, transport or perforate even in very curved canals. NiTi allows a better distribution of forces along the whole length of the blade (elasticity); the resistance which exists with stainless steel blades disappears. The blade flows easily into the canal without catching.

HERO (High Elasticity in Rotation) 642® (.06,.04, and .02 tapers) is used in a "crown-down" technique, between 300 and 600 rpm in a standard slow-speed contra-angle ( for 2,35 burs) on air-driven or electric motors.
We recommend the selected speed is kept constant. |
